What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer/Production Planner position at AA Anderson & CO INC?
Summary: The Buyer/Production Planner reporting directly to the Materials Manager, is responsible for the procurement of commodities through the implementation of commodity strategy plans and for ensuring customer orders are properly scheduled to meet promised completion dates. This position is actively involved with a variety of departments including purchasing, sales, engineering, production and warehouse.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare purchase requisitions, negotiate prices on products and services, and issues purchase orders in accordance with company policy, and negotiated terms and conditions
- Responsible for planning, developing, and buying: materials, parts, supplies and equipment
- Verifies status of open work orders and purchase orders to ensure timely delivery
- Negotiate with manufacturers on prices of goods related to our industry and establish item discount programs.
- Responsible for collecting up to date cost for bill of materials and maintaining current pricing and preferred vendors in our P21 system.
- Ensure supplier compliance with site and company requirements for safety
- Contact suppliers to ensure that all purchase orders were received, and that deliveries will ship on time
- Maintain constant contact with suppliers and CSR/Sales while deliveries are in route
- Notify operations team if a critical delivery is going to be late and follow up on shortage reports
- Resolve receiving discrepancies and contact supplier to determine disposition
- Maintain supplier records on the K: Drive and document links
- Expedite production and repair orders
- Monitor suppliers on time delivery for AVL reporting
- Work with vendors to solve invoicing issues that could delay critical shipments
- Assist with RMA process
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Skills/Experience
Required:
- 5 years of experience
- P21 experience preferred
- Associates degree in related field, Bachelor’s preferred
- Experience working in manufacturing/distribution industry
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment in groups with multiple demands
- Attention to details and strong organization skills required
