Job Summary: Lumber Inspector responsible for examining lumber, placing values, and overseeing activities of hourly employees to ensure safe and efficient production.
The Lumber Inspector will be responsible for:
- Examining lumber on moving chain conveyor to determine grade, species, and surface measure of each board, placing a value on the board.
- Placing grade marks on each individual board at production pace.
- Checking package tickets for proper amounts.
- Overseeing activities of hourly employees.
- Maintaining inspection slips in optimum working order.
- Reporting production or workforce problems to supervisor.
- Assisting with routine maintenance and minor repairs to inspection slips.
- FOLLOWING ALL SAFETY GUIDELINES TO ELIMINATE ACCIDENTAL INJURY.
- Maintaining property, plant, and equipment to support and improve the safe production and performance of operations.
- Identifying safety issues in the workplace and taking immediate action to correct or escalate to appropriate level for resolution.
Required Qualifications:
- NHLA certification or completion of Company training program.
- Proven leadership experience and ability.
- Effective communication, including speaking, writing, active listening, and taking instruction.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures, with a commitment to creating a safe work environment.
- Ability to effectively work in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow established policies and procedures.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability and willingness to work core hours to support the needs of the business.
Salary : $34,800 - $44,100
