Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, is seeking a Litigation Paralegal for its Ft. Lauderdale office. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, self-starting, and possess a minimum of 3 years' experience. The Paralegal will assist and support all aspects of a diverse litigation practice, including complex commercial litigation, corporate litigation, banking litigation and broker-dealer litigation and arbitration. Qualified candidates should: a) possess a working knowledge of the Florida/Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Florida Statutes; b) possess the experience and organization skills to efficiently and effectively handle the varied responsibilities of case management and trial preparation; c) have experience drafting and analyzing legal documents, retrieving case law, statutes and the like from Westlaw Next or other internet resources, and working with discovery documents in a fast-paced team environment; d) have the skills and experience to work with electronic management of case documents, including computer-based redaction, review and processing of case documents and preparation for electronic production of documents; e) have working knowledge of or the ability to learn e-discovery and litigation support software (includes iManage document management tools; Relativity; Casemap; Westlaw; and Trial Director); and (f) have experience providing support during trials and/or hearings, or an interest in learning trial and hearing support skills. Requisite skills include the ability to produce accurate and high-quality work product while working on multiple projects for multiple cases; strong organizational and communication skills; attention to detail; advanced knowledge of computer applications (including Word; PowerPoint; Excel; and Outlook); and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues.
