- Assist with planning, developing and implementing the athletic training program which includes preventing, assessing, rehabilitating and treating all injuries that the student-athletes may acquire while playing for any of the 15 sports (250 student-athletes).
- Assist with running a proper health care facility with the proper working equipment, materials and supplies needed to comply with NATA standards.
- Assist with developing overall sports medicine program for the University, including: injury prevention programs, injury evaluations, injury management, injury treatment and rehabilitation, educational programs and counseling for student-athletes
- Provide athletic training services for the University’s athletic department, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as necessary
- Assist with coordinating and scheduling physical examinations and medical referrals for student-athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete
- Work in conjunction with the strength and conditioning staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student-athlete needs
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating athletic training staff and students for athletic training services of all team practices and athletic competitions
- Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would enhance the benefit of the sports medical program
- Record keeping and documentation
- BS degree (Master’s preferred) in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine or related
- CPR, First Aid, AED Certification or ability to achieve these certifications within 30 days of employment
- Valid Driver’s License
- Computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Demonstrate strong leadership and managerial skills
- Be able to work in a professional environment
- Interact effectively with diverse populations; the capacity to work independently, and as part of a team
- Demonstrate a commitment to the education of athletic training students
- Strong written and oral communication skills; and a commitment to continuing education
- Athletic trainers must have knowledge of a large range of medical problems.
- Think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines.
- Should be thorough and detailed with injury tracking and documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situation when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff and families.
- Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision
