Job Description & Requirements

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with Cerner experience and advanced critical care skills for night shifts.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital ICU with a 12-bed unit specializing in critically ill medical cases, including neuro, ortho, psychiatric, and renal emergencies
- Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital environment
- Night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, working every other weekend
- Cares for patients requiring invasive procedures such as bronchoscopies, chest tubes, central/arterial lines, spinal taps, trachs, and EGDs
- Advanced monitoring, including hemodynamic, pulmonary artery/Swan Ganz, ICP, CRRT, and induced hypothermia
- Utilizes equipment such as Hilrom and citadel beds, GE monitors, artic sun, Baxter IV pumps, and patient lifts
- Uses Cerner EMR; Cerner experience is required
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- 36-hour work week
- Responsibilities include bedside procedures, invasive line insertions, ventilation, sedation management, and early mobility protocols
- Orientation occurs every other Thursday; required modules to be completed prior to start
- First-time travelers are accepted if experienced in ICU care
- Royal blue or white scrubs are required for RNs
- Free parking is available for travelers
- COVID vaccination is not required
- Candidates currently employed in any part of the health system are not eligible for this travel contract
- Blocked scheduling requests may be accommodated
- Holiday coverage may be required as per unit policy
- Active WV or Compact RN license or pending license
- Minimum of 2 years recent ICU RN experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (must be American Heart Association certified)
- Experience with Cerner EMR required
- Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, continuous and procedural IV sedation, and ICP monitoring experience required
- Two manager or charge references from the past 2 years required for consideration
- Must live more than 100 miles from facility; those within 75-100 miles considered on a case-by-case basis
- Perm employees of the health system cannot return as travelers within 2 years of last worked date
- Flu vaccination required unless a valid medical exemption is provided
