Position Summary, Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans, organizes, schedules, teaches, and leads recreational activities for preschool and school-age youth groups. Tasks include facility scheduling, acquiring necessary supplies and equipment, planning for set-up and clean-up, supervising all activities at the time of the program, working with the recreation supervisor on staff scheduling, transportation needs, safety precautions, evaluations, and final program needs.
- Coordinates activities and oversees recreational facilities as assigned. Works to increase program offerings. Sets up for activities, cleans up, performs minor indoor maintenance, and secures the building at closure.
- Assists in the promoting and publicity of programs, including the development and distribution of program flyers, website content, and Rundown articles.
- Maintains ongoing inventory control of recreation equipment and arts and crafts supplies for Youth Enrichment/Preschool. Identifies and purchases or requisitions supplies to meet program and facility needs.
- Plans, organizes and leads summer camp opportunities for school-aged youth.
- Seasonally performs duties of day camp director.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves on district committees, workgroups, and special projects as assigned.
- Assists recreation supervisors with general enrichment program tasks, including promotion and public speaking.

Job Qualifications
- Ability to create, design, and lead various recreational activities for all ages, primarily emphasizing preschool and school-age participants.
- Strong interpersonal skills and respect for diversity.
- Strong leadership skills, including planning and organizing, problem-solving, and supervisory and staff training skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma and two years of experience working in a setting with preschool or school-age children. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Must possess a current and valid Colorado driver’s license. CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Must meet appropriate Director requirements as required by the State of Colorado’s Department of Human Services upon hire. Satisfactory criminal background check, including Colorado Bureau of Investigation and TRAILS/Central Registry criminal record review as required by the Colorado Department of Social Services within five working days of employment.
Work Environment
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Ability to be seated or standing at a workstation for most (4 hours) of a workday. Must be able to move and lift equipment as needed.
TRAVEL:
Light travel throughout the district may be necessary.
