Job Title: Director of Prevention Programs

Job Summary:

The Director of Prevention Programs provides comprehensive services and oversight for the management of the department’s five program areas: Addiction Prevention, Health Navigation, Education & Training, Outreach and testing and after-school programming targeting youth, parents and families to help communities deal with the challenges they face, including substance use, nicotine use, violence, and problem gambling. The Director engages in community outreach and linkages to develop and maintain a network of prevention services and supports. This includes collaboration and coordination with other service providers. The Director of Prevention ensures delivery of appropriate evidence-based programs and curriculums on-site and in the community, including at schools and other places where youth gather. The Director of Prevention Programs reports directly to the VP for Prevention Services.

Job Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  •  Implement a status-neutral approach, promote and support integrated and person-centered models of medical and behavioral health care to increase availability, and improve access to culturally and linguistically affirming Prevention Services.
  • Orient and train Prevention Services staff.
  •  Establish and maintain positive working relationships with youth, parents, agency colleagues, and community stakeholders.
  •  Coordinate scheduling of programming in designated community-based sites and ensure appropriate coverage of program services, including contingency coverage planning and direct program support as needed.
  •  Facilitate evidenced-based programming for youth and parents, ensuring fidelity to the curricula offered by the program.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation per OASAS and other related contracting agency requirements.
  •  Identify and implement Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Improvement (QI) and evaluation activities for all prevention program components.
  •  Implement corrective action plans to ensure that all process and outcome objectives are achieved
  • Assist the VP in developing and updating prevention program protocols and related SOPs.
  •  Provides documented supervision for agency staff.
  • Oversees the Prevention Services staff training and development program.
  •  Works a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the Argus Community and program participants.
  •  Facilitate Parenting Skills programming.
  • Participate in the budgeting and procurement process.
  •  Facilitate staff meetings.
  • Participate in the Incident Review Committee.
  • Participate in coalitions, task forces and work groups as assigned by the VP
  • Support the VP in preparation of all scheduled site visits, findings, including development of action plans and related site visit reviews
  • Compiles data on Key Performance Indicators and presents in monthly reports.
  • Conduct routine chart reviews, data verification and process/outcome monitoring and report findings to the VP
  •  Assist the VP of Prevention Programs with CFA’s, work-plan development and related contract management tasks as needed
  •  Other tasks as assigned by the VP for Prevention Services.

Qualifications:

  • CASAC, LMSW, LCSW, LMHC or other QHP designation, required
  • CPP/CPS, preferred, or active pursuit of a prevention certification once employed
  • Demonstrated interest/experience working with youth and families
  • Naloxone, First Aid, and CPR certified
  • Adept working in an electronic medical record (EMR) and/or paper charting
  • Strong writing and organizational skills
  • Compassion and dedication to supporting youth and parents in developing prevention resources.
  • Basic knowledge of learning theories and various techniques and methods used in group work and training
  • Sensitivity to cultural issues and the needs of youth and parents from diverse backgrounds
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus.


Salary : $75,000 - $80,000
