Residential Manager

SUPERVISES: Community Living Instructors and Residential Coordinator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for day-to-day management of residential facilities and staff as assigned within the division. Serves as the liaison for residential services with day services and case management services.

Manages staff assigned in accordance with Arrowhead West, Inc.’s corporate policies and procedures, licensing and CARF standards and other applicable legal requirements. Ensures appropriate maintenance of supervised facilities and equipment, including vehicles.

Chairs client management meetings quarterly. Reviews drill reports, etc. as per policy. Reviews accident and illness reports. Ensures timely reporting of all worker’s compensation or vehicle accidents.

Serves as a member of the Safety Committee and other committees as assigned.

Visits assigned homes on a regular basis; provides feedback and guidance to supervised staff. Maintains documentation of visits and forwards monthly to supervisor. Keeps supervisor informed of status of staff, clients, and facilities. Spends a minimum of 8 hours per week at assigned facilities when staff are present; includes regularly scheduled evening and weekend hours.

Provides guidance and support to supervised staff to include hiring and termination recommendations as per personnel policies. Other duties include:

  • Schedules work hours of supervised staff as efficiently as possible while meeting clientneeds
  • Approves timekeeping, expense vouchers, leave requests, grocery and supplyrequisitions, etc.
  • Completes Personnel Performance Reviews
  • Reviews incident, accident, and illness reports (on staff)
  • Conducts staff meetings, communicates issues and concerns to program staff
  • Assures that staff fulfill responsibilities as assigned by client PCSP teams such as datacollection, etc.
  • Supervises volunteers and student interns as assigned
  • Schedules transportation routes if assigned
  • Assures staff training and personnel paperwork requirements are met

Position works closely with case management staff on client service provision issues.

Assists with recruitment, recognition and retention of residential staff.

Ensures required paperwork such as residential attendance records, travel logs, etc. are submitted to accounting department on a timely basis.

Submits reports to the Division Manager as requested.

Position is scheduled for on-call duty.

Performs other functions as assigned by the supervisor.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

General Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Individual must be able to effectively communicate in English, including the ability to read and write in English.

Education and Training: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (BA) in human service area or management from four-year college or university, and at least two years related work experience. Degree may be waived for a person with at least five years relevant experience in the field of human services. Preference may be given to person with supervisory experience. Ability to work as a team with others effectively. Willing to work some evenings or weekends as scheduled by supervisor. Has a working knowledge of the principles and techniques of behavior modification and management. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with several variables in situations where only limited standardization exists (ability to handle and make rational decision with crisis situations that may occur within the residential program).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver’s license (safe driving record, Department of Motor Vehicles check). Required to obtain: Standard First Aid certificate, Adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Mandt certificate.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. May need to climb up/down stairs. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. May be required to lift up to 75 pounds to transfer persons to/from chair to toilet, bed, bath, etc. May need to push wheelchair up ramp with 250-300 pound passenger. Successfully demonstrate ability to drive car/van.

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Salary Range: $47,840 – 65,520 ($1,840 – 2,520 biweekly) effective 1/31/23
