Lead Sawyer & CNC Operator - Artistic Stone Design

About the Role: We are seeking a skilled Lead Sawyer and CNC Operator to join our artistic stone design team. This position combines traditional stoneworking craftsmanship with modern CNC technology to create exceptional architectural and artistic stone pieces. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both precision stone cutting and computer-controlled machining operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain diamond wire saws, bridge saws, and other stone cutting equipment
• Program, set up, and operate CNC stone cutting and routing machines
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files to execute precise cuts and shapes
• Lead a team of sawyers and machine operators, providing training and quality oversight
• Ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish quality meet project specifications
• Collaborate with designers and project managers to optimize cutting strategies
• Maintain detailed production records and quality control documentation
• Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate maintenance schedules
• Manage material inventory and optimize stone utilization to minimize waste

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years experience in stone fabrication and cutting operations
• Proficiency with CNC programming and operation (Fanuc, Siemens, or similar controls preferred)
• Experience with CAD/CAM software for stone applications
• Strong understanding of natural stone properties, grain direction, and cutting techniques
• Leadership experience with ability to train and supervise production staff
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
• Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in a shop environment
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with artistic or architectural stonework
• Knowledge of marble, granite, limestone, and specialty stone materials
• Familiarity with water jet cutting technology
• Basic understanding of structural engineering principles for stone applications
• Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) preferred

Work Environment: Full-time position in a well-equipped stone fabrication facility. Work involves exposure to stone dust, machinery noise, and requires adherence to strict safety protocols. Standard shop hours with occasional overtime during peak project periods.
