The U.S. base salary range for this position is $155,500 to $233,000 USD.

What you’ll be doing
What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Provide leadership for the Los Angeles property team in the Marketing and Underwriting of new and renewal business opportunities for retail broker partners, focusing on Property and related product lines. While additionally, contributing to special projects as assigned by senior management.
- Lead in the future development of the existing Underwriting staff and the hiring of the future Underwriters in the southwest region
- Contribute to regional planning by developing and executing an annual desk-level underwriting plan.
- Mentoring and motivating team underwriters, while working with underwriting assistants and other integral members of your team.
- Support the training and onboarding of new hires to foster a knowledgeable team.
- Analyze submission data including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports while conducting appropriate research to determine degree of risk for each account.
- Utilize advanced underwriting tools and methodologies to evaluate complex property exposures.
- Adhere to underwriting guidelines, underwriting authorities and referral requirements as needed to regional management, product management and chief underwriting officers.
- Collaborate with internal colleagues in the assessment of current and prospective risks, including actuarial, claims, legal and risk engineering.
- Pro-active service of business in conjunction with our Middle Office to ensure timely and accurate delivery of quotations, binders, policies and endorsements.
- Cross-sell with other business units to maximize deployment of AXA XL’s capital and broaden product offerings.
- Monitor marketplace trends to stay informed about and ahead of emerging issues and opportunities within the Property sector.
- Maintain compliance with all internal and external underwriting guidelines and legal requirements.
- Assist in portfolio management regarding limit deployment, attachment point aggregation, pricing adequacy and policy terms and conditions.

- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- In-depth Property Underwriting expertise related to solutions to contribute to the underwriting of the full range of Property products.
- Strong insured and broker interaction in assigned geographic territory with the ability to effectively target current and prospective contacts in order to effectively promote offered products.
- The ability to travel a minimum of 25% of the time is anticipated.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work independently while being an open-minded team player, actively listening to comprehend unique circumstances that require practical and innovative solutions to complex issues.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to work with both internal teams and external brokers as you will work in a team environment, assisting underwriters and / or deal administrators as part of their overall responsibility.
- Excellent collaborative skills in a fast-paced team-centric environment.
- The ability to demonstrate critical thinking, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
