Summary
The Job Cost Accountant is responsible for timely and accurate job “set-ups” for all companies. In addition, the JCA is responsible for all maintenance to the projects, until the close out of each project, including adding cost codes and entering job cost adjusting entries.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Job Cost Accountant will possess competency in the following areas in order to perform his/her role in a safe, productive, and effective manner. Note that the areas listed are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by co-workers assigned to this role. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions associated with this job.
- Investigates, verifies, and reviews job setup timely for all companies
- Trains new and existing co-workers to properly complete transition sheets for job setup
- Maintains job files and region changes
- Distributes job information daily to various departments and project teams to communicate crucial information
- Assists in maintaining the phase codes for all companies
- Enters missing phase codes on jobs
- Assists in maintaining the workers compensation codes
- Reviews and enters a variety of job cost adjusting entries
- Assists with data needed for monthly WIP preparation

Assists internal and external customers with a wide variety of questions – troubleshooting
- Utilizes the “help desk” approach by answering questions and finding solutions to a variety of questions
- Assists Controller I-Job Cost Manager as required with various projects
Requirements
- A high school diploma and five (5) years of relevant administration experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word and Excel
- Vista, experience preferred
- Must possess strong customer service skills
The following competencies are needed to successfully perform this job:
- Ability to present information in written and oral form to co-workers within the company
- Ability to learn terms and jargon used in the field by construction personnel
- Ability to calculate mathematical figures such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with Operations and Shared Services staff
- Ability to research and summarize various types of data
- Ability to follow standards, practices, policies, procedures
- Ability to organize and prioritize work
