Regular Schedule: 34 hours per week

Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Possession of a high school diploma or appropriate equivalent

Must meet the MABPCB requirements for CPRS certification https://www.mabpcb.com/

Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist, or in the process of completing the certification.
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver license is required at the time of application.
Individuals hired prior to having the CPRS will be hired on the condition that they complete the certification within one year of their hire date.
Proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education
Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant’s major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.Staff must be willing to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and evenings.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this classification is generally sedentary, but requires traveling throughout the County and some lifting and carrying in the set up of educational displays and presentations.
Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation
Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening and employment investigation, including, but not limited to criminal background, education certification and fingerprinting checks.

- Provide peer support to individuals with substance use and co-occurring behavioral health concerns
- Meet with program participants to provide peer mentoring, linkages to resources, and facilitation of contacts with the recovery community
- Create participant-driven wellness plans designed to address the barriers to wellness, including; stigma, transportation, basic needs, housing and others as defined by the participant
- Provides outreach to the community and distributes literature, brochures, and other related materials in an effort to educate the general public to promote the programs and to reduce stigma
- Staff the Baltimore County 410.88REACH Line, a warm line that provides immediate information, assistance and support to individuals facing challenges resulting from substance use and co-occurring behavioral health concerns
- Consistently document all participant encounters and outreach efforts
- Participate in, and contributes to, team meetings, providing constructive feedback to support the participants, the peer team and the peer programs
