Position Title: Intake Coordinator (Forensic Interviewer and Advocate Floater)
$2,000.00 Sign On Bonus
This is a full-time position that works the following hours: Monday-Thursday 8-5 and Friday 8-2. Staff are also allowed to work from home every other Friday.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Child Services Manager, the Intake Coordinator performs tasks specific to the growing advocacy needs for victims of sexual violence and child abuse within Abbeville, Greenwood, Laurens and Newberry Counties. This position is mainly responsible for completing intakes and coordinating the schedule. In addition to this, this position will be a floating position in which the person will also provide forensic interviews and family advocacy services as needed to ensure timely services for all clients.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences with a minimum of two years of experience or combination of education and experience and knowledge working with abused children and their families.
- Attendance and successful completion of Child First South Carolina® upon acceptance of employment with BA.
3. Ability to relate to individuals and groups of all cultural backgrounds in an empathetic, non-judgmental manner or neutral and objective manner depending on the service the person is providing at that time.
4. Knowledge of the impact and dynamics of sexual violence and child abuse and the trauma of child victims and their non-offending family members.
5. Possess strong organizational skills, can multi-task, be detail-oriented and have excellent interpersonal skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:
Intake Coordination:
- Review and complete documentation for referral screenings, intakes, scheduling services and provision of services.
- Collaborate with city and county law enforcement and public and private service agencies, including participation in Multi-disciplinary Case Review staffings, SARTs, etc as needed.
Forensic Interviewing:
- Conduct forensic interviews of children in cases of suspected child abuse.
- Assure children receive appropriate referrals for medical examinations, therapy and other needed services.
- Complete written summary reports of the forensic interview and provide to the appropriate investigative agencies involved in the case.
- Participate fully in the pre and post-interview meetings with the MDT and MDT case review staffings.
- Testify in court regarding the forensic interview as required by subpoena; provide expert testimony as needed by members of the multidisciplinary team.
Family Advocacy:
- Conduct follow-up contact with clients, including but not limited to confirming scheduled services.
- Coordinate with investigation/prosecuting agencies to obtain case tracking.
- Provide crisis intervention, hotline response and assistance to victims in the Emergency Department in service area, as needed.
For all Above Roles:
- Assist in training for Multi-disciplinary Team members and/or agency volunteers to promote awareness to the community.
- Maintain accurate and current electronic documentation of all contacts.
- Other duties deemed appropriate and necessary by Supervisor and/or Executive Director.
SUPERVISION:
This position does not supervise other personnel.
