We are seeking a dynamic, high-energy Dance Specialist to lead our Dance elective and produce the highlight of our week: the All Camp Lineup Performance! This is your chance to be a star instructor, a choreographer, and a role model for every camper, teaching fun, upbeat routines that bring the house down.
About Black Bear Lake Day Camp:
Our Dance elective is incredibly popular with campers from Lower Camp (1st Grade) through the STEP Program (10th Grade) who are excited to learn the latest trends and perform for their friends. This is your chance to shine in an elective model that values your creative input and celebrates your skills on a weekly basis!
Your Role as the Dance Specialist:
You are the Camp’s Head Choreographer and Performance Director! You will lead every age group in short, fun, and age-appropriate routines.
- Choreography & Instruction: Design and teach separate 1-2 minute routines to multiple age groups (Lower Camp, Junior, Senior, Upper, and STEP) using the same pop/upbeat song.
- Performance Production: Ensure all routines are polished and ready to be performed seamlessly at the All Camp Lineup every Friday, managing the entire dance segment of the show.
- Keep it Current & Upbeat: Focus entirely on high-energy, appropriate Pop, Hip-Hop, and trending TikTok-style dances. We leave the slow songs and ballet to other studios—we’re here for the party!
- Inspire Confidence: Coach campers on stage presence and teamwork, ensuring that every performer, regardless of skill, feels comfortable and proud under the spotlight.
- Program Ownership: We encourage you to bring your best music selections and choreography ideas to make your elective unforgettable.
What We're Looking For:
- A strong background in Hip-Hop, Jazz, Pop, or Performance-based dance styles.
- Proven experience in choreographing routines for large groups and varying skill levels.
- Boundless energy and comfort with speaking/performing in front of a large audience (the entire camp!).
- The ability to ensure all music and movements are 100% kid-friendly and age-appropriate.
