The success of the Brentwood School District depends in large part upon the willing involvement of parents and community members. As indicated in Board Policy IICC:
The Brentwood Board of Education encourages parents/guardians and other members of the community to share their time, knowledge and abilities with our students. Community volunteers in our schools and activities enrich the total education program and strengthen our schools’ relationships with homes, businesses, public agencies and private institutions. The presence of volunteers in the classroom, on school grounds and at extracurricular activities also enhances supervision of students and contributes to school safety.

Volunteering in the district is a privilege, not a right. Volunteers shall act in accordance with district policies, regulations and school rules. Volunteers shall maintain the same confidentiality standards expected of certificated personnel and exhibit the ethical behaviors of a professional. Although volunteers will provide support services, they are not substitutes for district staff. Volunteers will work under the direction and supervision of district staff. The building principal may ask a volunteer to leave the campus or discontinue service if he/she/they violates school procedures or expectations of the district. The superintendent or designee shall be responsible for investigating and resolving complaints regarding volunteers.

- Volunteer – A volunteer is an individual who may be periodically left alone with students or who may be granted access to some student education records due to consistent or ongoing responsibilities in the school. Usually, volunteers assist the school on a regular basis. Examples of volunteers include persons who regularly assist in the office or library, mentor or tutor students, coach or supervise a school-sponsored activity before or after school, or chaperone students on an trip.
- Volunteer Sports Coach/Activity Advisor - regularly assists a paid coach or advisor in a sport or other extra-curricular activity. Volunteer coaches or advisors work directly with students on activities and techniques. A volunteer sport coach or advisor may be asked to assume responsibilities of a paid coach or advisor in an emergency situation.

- Ability, both orally and in writing, to present information effectively and respond appropriately to questions and concerns from colleagues, administrators, parents, and students
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and parents through oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with business partners, administration, staff and students
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of school expectations/requirements.
- Ability to collaborate with others in the overall school community
- The noise level will vary depending on the events/activities
- Complete the Volunteer Background Packet sent though FRONTLINE CENTRAL which will require the following:
- Schedule an appointment to obtain your fingerprints with the Missouri Highway Patrol. Volunteers will receive a separate email with a REGISTER CODE and FINGERPRINTING PAYMENT CODE.
- Register online with the Family Care Safety Registry. The online registration costs $14 with a $1.25 fee. Take a picture/screenshot of receipt and submit it to the Brentwood Human Resources Office for reimbursement.
