4:00-6:30pm on Monday, June 2, 2025 – Thursday, June 5, 2025, George School
Location:School Registration and Parent Information Center, 60 Crescent Street/Manthala George School of Global Studies
The Bilingual Department and the School Registration and Parent Information Center are seeking Community Facilitators to support ESL teachers in communicating (interpreting and explaining) WIDA Screener results and program recommendations for incoming kindergarten students. This assistance is needed on Tuesday and/or Thursday afternoons, starting from Tuesday, April 15th. Community Facilitators will be assigned to interpret assessment results, explain program recommendations, and complete required documentation with parents/guardians every Tuesday and Thursday.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Proficient in Cape Verdean/Portuguese and English; Haitian/French and English, and Spanish and English
2.Strong interpretation and translation skills – able to conduct simultaneous interpretation and translate written documents
(educational, legal, parent notices, etc.).
3.Possess, value and be responsive to the cultural, racial, ethnic differences of families and individuals being served.
4.Maintain an atmosphere of professionalism, confidentiality and consistently reinforces parental involvement.
5.Familiar with the laws and regulations that govern the education of students whose first language is not English.
6.Strong organizational skills, some computer skills helpful and comfort in communicating with diverse populations, school
administrators and staff, and community agencies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Facilitate parent/teacher communications
2.Interpret and provide equitable access to non-English speaking families
3.Interpret for parents during the screening process
4.Collaborate with the Site Supervisor and ESL teachers
