The Electrical Estimator will exercise discretion and independent judgment to forecast project costs, gather details and compile data to estimate all production costs according to specifications. This position is responsible to consider all raw materials, labor, equipment, tools, labor and transportation for estimations and identifies necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints.
Some of the Work You'll Do:
- Independently review plans and specifications
- Check plans for errors or omissions.
- Determine the amount, type, and cost of materials and fixtures needed for each electrical project.
- Determine the amount of labor required to complete each project.
- Review incoming supplier and subcontractor quotes.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and/or tour job sites to confirm requisite take-offs.
- Independently perform bid walks
- Review bid with Chief Estimator and/or Project Manager and conduct Hand Off meeting upon award.
- Ensure all bids are completed utilizing the most efficient job methods available to the industry today.
- Advise and consult with customers as required to assist in estimating future workload.
- Collect post-bid debriefing with customer.
- Assume additional tasks assigned by senior management or which are logically inherent to this position.
Here's What You Need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred OR related field and 2-8 years of experience in electrical estimating or field experience.
- Knowledge of project estimation, project management, and commercial/industrial construction.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and local codes.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Experience with Estimating Software.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Flexible and adaptable; ability to work in a team environment and initiative to work alone.
