Job Description And Duties
Under the general direction of the Associate Warden, the Captain is responsible for the security of all facilities. Assigning custodial staff within each facility, giving instructions, maintaining discipline, and making determinations on the procedures for the admission and the release of inmates; investigating and responding to inmate appeals; participating in classification and disciplinary committee meetings; participating in the employee hiring and dismissal process; having direct responsibility for the security of the institution and all internal units; plans and directs an accurate system of inmate count.
Limited term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

California State Prison-Sacramento is a high security male institution located in Folsom, CA. Employees may regularly be required to be in close vicinity of inmates and may visit various areas within the secured housing units.

Performs peace office duties which include maintaining order and supervising the conduct of inmates, protecting and maintaining the safety of persons and property, inspecting premises and searching inmates for contraband, and replacing and/or assisting the custodial staff during emergency situations.
