The District Attorney's Office of the Eastern Judicial Circuit seeks a qualified Legal Secretary IV to provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to an Assistant District Attorney. Examples of Duties
In this role, you
- Provide administrative and clerical support to an Assistant District Attorney (ADA), including drafting and editing correspondence, filing and delivering documents and pleadings, and organizing documents, files, and projects.
- Prepare, process, and monitor various legal documents or processes and attend court.
- Prepare specialized analytical reports and coordinate in-house projects.
- Organize and coordinate the work of your assigned ADA, review and prioritize shifting objectives, and provide administrative support to the ADA.
- Represent the District Attorney’s Office to the public.
- Perform work that requires comprehensive knowledge of the functions and activities of the office.
- Perform work that requires considerable initiative, independent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality in carrying out your duties, often in stressful situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Business Administration, Management, or a closely related field, and
- At least four (4) years of experience as a legal administrative assistant, legal secretary, or executive assistant in the legal field; or
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs.
- Clerical testing will be conducted during the interview process for selected candidates.
- Legal and/or court experience is highly preferred.
During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.
Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
