Director of Finance And Accounting

Chesapeake Search Partners is actively seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting for an established company located in the greater Baltimore area. This key leadership position will report directly to the CFO and be responsible for both strategic and hands-on management within the finance and accounting functions. The ideal candidate will be an experienced finance professional with a proven track record in leadership, process automation, and strong technical skills. You will oversee a team of five or more and work collaboratively across departments to ensure the company’s financial health and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the finance and accounting teams to support the company’s strategic goals and drive profitability.
• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Prepare and review timely and accurate financial statements in line with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Drive initiatives to streamline financial processes, improve reporting efficiency, and automate manual workflows where possible.
• Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and system upgrades to optimize financial operations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master's or CPA preferred).
• 8-10 years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working with all levels of the organization.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to take a hands-on approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
• Proven ability to drive change and optimize financial operations through technology and process enhancements.
