Under general supervision, the Grants Coordinator-Police, will identify funding sources to support existing and planned City priorities as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies. This position is responsible for identifying, developing, and submitting grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies. In addition to developing and managing police-related grants, the role will collaborate with other City departments to pursue and manage a wide range of funding opportunities that align with broader City goals.- Research, identify all potential sources of funding all possible sources, including but not limited to:
- Federal
- State
- Local
- Private sources Funding partnerships

- Perform comprehensive overall management of criminal justice grant programs assigned to the City of Arlington such as:
- Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program
- COPS program
- Federal Department of Justice
- Criminal Justice Division (CJD) state grant program
- Perform overall comprehensive project management and contract management of grant funded administrative projects; including but not limited to:
- Coordinate the process for notification of funding availability.
- The bidding process. Award of state and federal funding.

- Coordinate plan development including but not limited to:
- Grant applications.
- Project implementation processes with multiple City Departments and outside organizations.
- Oversee planning functions related to the preparation of key criminal justice data sets, in accordance with applicable federal regulations and City approved policy.
- Perform the tasks associated with including but not limited to:
- The strong neighborhood initiative.
- Our Community, Our Kids. The Gang Reduction Strategy.

- Develop staff reports, resolutions, and presentations for City Council and Committees; and represent the City at community meetings.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Monitor program budgets as it relates to the department budget considering applicable federal laws related to same.
- Make effective formal presentations to large and small groups.
- Research information using the web and other sources.
- Effectively communicate and coordinate grant requirements of a variety of sources, program objectives, budgets, reporting requirements, and performance measures with staff, City Council, and sub-grantees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Skill in effectively communicating with contractors, non-profits, clients, and co-workers
- Skill in creating written documents, correspondence, reports, brochures, graphs, charts and present information in a concise. professional, meaningful presentation to community groups, the general public and City officials, etc.
- Ability to build effective relationships with state and federal officials, industry groups, local non- profits and other community partners.
- Ability to comprehend and interpret financial statements of a variety of business types and structures
- Ability to analyze statistical reports. budgets, plans and research documents to ensure compliance with grant funded programs.
- Ability to read and interpret financial statements, federal regulations, guidebooks and other reference materials Ability to accurately perform basic and intermediate mathematical functions and formulas
- Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
- Ability to clearly, and effectively communicate orally and in writing with persons from varied socio economic, ethnic and racial backgrounds.
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communications and make the discrimination in sounds. Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including but not limited to filing, sorting, seeing, and sitting. Knowledge of office and administrative practices and procedures.

Qualifying Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, English, Journalism, Communications, Criminal Justice or related field.
- 3 years of successful grant writing experience including but not limited to:
- Prospect research, sourcing, developing, and writing Submitting successful private, federal, and state government grant proposals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of federal regulations governing the DOJ, COPS, CJD, and other grant programs
- Knowledge and understanding of real estate documents
- Knowledge in analyzing pro forma statements and operating budgets
- Skill in entering data via keyboard (electronically) into DOJ's data collections systems
- Master’s degree in business, English, Journalism, Communications, Criminal Justice or related field.
- Grants Professional Certification Credential.
- Experience with writing grants for municipality preferred.
