Job Description
Performs difficult clerical and technical work in the preparation, assessment, processing and filing of personal property taxes, state income taxes, real estate tax relief, DMV Select transactions, and business license taxes. Provides excellent customer service in responding to inquiries by phone, email and in person. Also works at City satellite offices as needed and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in bookkeeping or a closely related field. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of one year of related, full-time equivalent experience. SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: None. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.



Preferred Qualifications
Requires experience with or the ability to learn software applications (including the City’s tax assessing and real estate tax relief programs, NADA Blue Book valuation, IRMS, Laserfiche, DMV and DMV Select), and state and local laws governing the taxation of personal property, businesses, and state income. Requires the ability to effectively communicate in person, email and telephone. Requirements include strong data entry, computer and office equipment skills, including the use of a 10-key calculator. Requires proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, etc.
