Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, leads and participates in the work of personnel involved in installing, maintaining, repairing and servicing residential, commercial and industrial water meters; and the AMI (Automatic Meter Infrastructure); performs related duties as assigned
Carries out supervisor responsibilities when supervisor is not available, in accordance with the City’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, assigning, and directing work; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Responsibilities And Reporting During An Emergency Situation
Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.
Non-Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee’s Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.

- Leads, schedules, evaluates and participates in the work of employees engaged in the installation, testing, and repairing of residential, commercial, and industrial water meters.
- Instructs and trains employees in the duties and tasks concerned and with the safe and efficient operations and repairs of meters, hand and power tools.
- Provides technical assistance to staff.
- Routes daily work orders based on service and repair priority criteria.
- Ability and willingness to complete an acceptable amount of work orders during a workday.
- Ability to operate and use a smart phone and other forms of technology.
- Repairs leaks within the meter box, customer side or city side.
- Tests and repairs water meters.
- Responsible for maintenance of meter boxes and lids, trim bushes, meter box replacement, and cleaning out of meter box.
- Assists with the maintenance of the AMI system including collectors and repeaters.
- Performs curb stop change outs.
- Installs, removes and rebuilds hydrant meters.
- Reads city meters using the AMI reading system, laptop and handheld as needed.
- Performs meter change outs as scheduled.
- Maintains motor vehicles, equipment and supplies necessary to complete assigned tasks.
- Communicates with customers as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- May participate in on-call duty.
- Perform after hour service as assigned.

- Must possess Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record and must posses or be able to possess Class B CDL endorsement license within 6 months of appointment.
