Work Schedule: Tuesday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM. This position requires flexibility, with emergency call-backs possible 24/7, including weekends and holidays.

Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:
The Heavy Equipment Operator will be assigned to a crew performing general maintenance on the City's right-of-ways. The primary responsibility of this position will be to safely and effectively operate a boom tractor, backhoe/loader, run chainsaws, bucket trucks, and dump trucks. This position will be required to be in an on-call status for any tree-related problems for 24 hours a day for a seven day period. This position could also be required to work on the City’s snow program. The assigned schedule is subject to change and emergency callbacks can occur 24 hours a day during emergencies and/or weather events. The physical duties include: stooping, standing, bending, kneeling, walking, climbing, shoveling, and heavy lifting up to 50lbs. Work is performed outside in all weather conditions and may require a flexible schedule with little or no notice that may include weekends and holidays. This employee must maintain a reliable means of contact (i.e. home or cellular telephone) for call back duties and/or emergency situations. This employee must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's Permit within 30 days and a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker Endorsement within 120 days of employment.

What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- 1-3 years of experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., tractors, backhoes, bucket trucks, dump trucks).
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License.
- Experience in tree work, including felling/removal and using bucket trucks and lifts.
