What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solid Waste Heavy Equipment Operator position at City of Irving?

Duties include collecting refuse, brush and debris and transporting it to the City landfill. Duties will require working outdoors under a variety of weather conditions and typically will require lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with the assistance of other employees. Must have one year relevant experience, with at least six months recent experience driving any vehicle that requires a Class A or B commercial driver’s license (CDL) to operate. Must currently possess a Class A or B CDL; and, have formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to communicate in English at a level necessary for successful job performance, such as in emergencies or other situations in which workers must speak a common language to promote safety. Normal schedule is 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. four days per week.
PAY GRADE SW01 / FULL PAY RANGE $23.08 - $30.40 PER HOUR

- Individuals hired into this position will receive $1000 after their first 30 days of employment provided there are no documented attendance or disciplinary issues.
- Employees that successfully complete their 6-month orientation period will receive an additional one-time payment of $1000 provided there are no documented attendance or disciplinary issues.
- Employees that successfully complete one year of employment without
documented attendance or disciplinary issues will receive an additional one-time payment of $1000. - The maximum amount of hiring incentive that an individual employee may receive is $3,000.
