Receive and refer callers, answer various inquiries, provide information on departmental services, programs and functions; and maintain calendars.
Assist with department business; maintain computer records, update files, and issue permits and track correspondence.
Type correspondence, letters, memos, manuals, reports and other materials.
Receive payments, post accounts, keep accurate records for monthly billing; and collect on delinquent accounts to ensure balances are paid.
Mail, fax, photocopy, order supplies, proofread, and perform other miscellaneous bookkeeping responsibilities.
Physical: Ability to type with accuracy for two to three hours without interruption, lift up to 25 pounds, and sit for extended periods.
Mental: Ability to concentrate on work and maintain accuracy with constant interruption; perform numerical detail work with speed and accuracy, make difficult mathematical computations, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and procedures; business English, spelling, grammar, and arithmetic; use of office equipment. Ability to make moderately complex decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures; maintain office records; prepare accurate reports; perform office management details without referral to a supervisor; and computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
