GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for providing complex supply support to the
Police Department. Reports directly to the Logistics’ Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs responsible storeroom functions utilizing an automated inventory system to include material
receiving, picking, issuance, delivering, storage, inventory control, verifying on-hand quantities and
monitoring returns and general housekeeping. Procures and maintains a stocked inventory of all
designated office and janitorial supplies for the department, as established by the Logistics Manager.
Processes all United Parcel Services (UPS) packages for the Police Department. Retrieves all surplus,
obsolete and excess furniture and materials no longer in use. Responsible for keeping area hospitals
stocked with Blood Alcohol Kits.
Collects, maintains and properly stores and disposes of an inventory of Bikes, mopeds, and scooters
turned over to the Logistics section by department Officers.
Verifies all incoming shipments against purchase order documentation using packing slips, invoices
or other prepared paper work related to the procurement.
Delivers or coordinates delivery of a variety of supplies to physical locations utilized by Police
Department personnel.
Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
Inventory Management – Thorough knowledge of stock and inventory recordkeeping to include

safe, effective, and efficient handling and storage of stock, material, tools, and supplies.
Knowledge of the use and type of a wide variety of materials, parts, equipment or supplies in a
warehouse.
Customer Service — Considerable knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer
service and delivering items to requestors. This includes setting and meeting quality standards
for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Equipment Operation – Knowledge of the proper procedures for operating, inspecting and
maintaining assigned equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.
Safety - Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and safety regulations
related to the handling and storage of stock, material, tools, and supplies.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Computer Skills – Utilizes a personal computer with a warehouse management system, word
processing, spreadsheet, and related software to effectively complete a variety of administrative
tasks with reasonable speed and accuracy.
Interpersonal Relationships – Develops and maintains cooperative and courteous relationships
with employees, managers, supervisors, managers and representatives from other departments
and organizations within the department.
Time Management - Plans and organizes daily work routine. Estimates expected time of
completion of elements of work and establishes a personal schedule accordingly. Implements
work activities in accordance with priorities and estimated schedules.
Judgement/Decision Making – Evaluate the best method of research and then exercise
appropriate judgement in establishing priorities and resolving matters. Considers the relative
costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
REQUIRED ABILITIES
Communication – Ability to communicate ideas and proposals verbally and in writing effectively
so others will understand. Ability to handle a variety of customer service issues with tact and
diplomacy and in a confidential manner.
Mathematics - Ability to perform basic arithmetic and statistical calculations as well as taking
basic measurements, approximate weights.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a high school diploma and 5-7 years of supply, stock, or warehouse experience or an
equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires an acceptable general background check to include a local and state criminal history check
and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Requires satisfactory results from a pre-employment medical evaluation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically
demanding work
Some combination of climbing and balancing to include climbing ladders, stooping,
kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
May involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and
materials (20-50 pounds).
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals.
Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such
dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, weather, temperature, and hazardous materials,
machinery, vibrations, or bright/dim lights.
