Definition
Under direction, patrols designated areas and issue summonses to motor vehicles in order to enforce municipal resolutions, ordinances or regulations related to the parking of motor vehicles.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Patrols City streets and meter parking lots in a car or on foot; tags cars in time limit zones; writes parking tickets to cars parked in illegal spaces, parked over time limit, or parked with an expired meter; may write tickets to individuals opposing traffic on Asbury Avenue; appears in municipal court; performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
Some Knowledge of: the problems involved in parking violations, or the procedures used in dealing with such problems; the keeping of records and of the making of reports of conditions noted and actions taken.
Ability to: Read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position, understand, remember and carry out oral and written instructions; analyze routine problems, organize assigned work and develop effective work methods; learn quickly from oral and written explanations and from demonstrations; note significant conditions and take the proper action in accordance with the prescribed procedures; report significant conditions noted and actions taken and keep relevant records; learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.

Valid Driver's license. Minimum age requirement: 18.

Position requires employee to: Walk up to 10 miles a day, and lift up to 10 lbs.; frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and occasionally stand, sit, talk or hear, and reach with hands and arms. Special vision requirements: Close, distance color peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Position requires employee to: Continuously work in outdoor weather conditions such as sun, heat, and rain; frequently work near moving mechanical parts; and occasionally work near auto fumes.
