The Citywide Mentorship Program will provide an opportunity for Mentors and Mentees to work together to support Mentees in:
- Gaining extra assistance and guidance to learn a new job
- Enhancing existing skills to improve performance and self-confidence
- Developing new skills to help with career development
- Provide objective and professional guidance
- Cultivate the mentee’s aspirations
- Build strong and effective work relationships
- Be accessible and communicate openly
- Be willing to share career/development needs, experiences, goals, and expectations
- Be willing to ask questions and communicate openly
- Keep the Mentor informed of changes in needs, goals, or expectations
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Citywide Mentorship Program includes a program Kickoff, periodic check-ins to monitor the Mentor/Mentee status, and provision of resources and training for continued development.Participants should expect to spend approximately 5 hours per month of participation over the six-month period of the Citywide Mentorship Program, during your normal regular work assignment. Note that identifying backup coverage or adjusting work schedules may be needed and it is the employee and manager/supervisor’s responsibility to coordinate coverage.

- Candidate is not currently on a corrective action plan
- Candidate is able to commit for the 6-month program time period. This includes regular meetings with your Mentor, attending speaker series sessions, and any action items they have committed to completing with their Mentor.
RECRUITMENT TIMELINE
- Mentee Posting: June 26th –July 31st, 2023
- Information Sessions – June 28th & July 6th, 2023
- Applications Reviewed – week of July 31st, 2023
- Applicants Notified, Mentor Selection and Mentee Pairing -August 7th-21st, 2023
- Program Kickoff - September 14th, 2023
- Program Dates -September 14th, 2023 - March 15th, 2024
- Closing Ceremony – April 2024

THE SELECTION PROCESS
- Mentee spots will be dependent on the number of mentors that apply and upon whether a mentor takes on 1 or 2 mentees. If there are not enough mentors, a random lottery selection process will be used to fill the available mentee slots. if applicable (high mentee participation/low mentor participation), runners -up will be added to a waitlist. Progression will occur if a selected mentee is unable to fulfill the 6-month assignment and a random lottery process will again be used.
