What are the responsibilities and job description for the Afterschool Leader position at City of Rockville?
Responsible for the planning and implementation of specific recreation activities in the afterschool program. Duties include but are not limited to, planning and leading sports, crafts or other specialized activities; maintaining a clean and organized workspace; engaging in both indoor and outdoor activities; and assisting the site director with forms, paperwork and parent correspondence as necessary; accompany and/or transport children on off-site field trips as scheduled; attend staff and programming meetings as scheduled and keep current necessary credentials and trainings as required by MSDE Office of Child Care
Position Hours
3:30 – 6:30 pm, Monday – Friday, everyday that MCPS is in session. 1:00 – 6:30 pm on MCPS Early Release Days.QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Skills in general recreation programs, and some knowledge of specific activities as related to the position. Ability to complete a medical examination within 30 days of hire. good communication skills; ability to exercise independent judgment; CPR, First Aid and AED may be required (training is available and free of cost if needed). Valid Maryland driver’s license preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience working with children in a recreational setting. Knowledge of sports and games, and some implementation required.
EDUCATION:
High school graduate and/or at least 18 years of age. Child Development class preferred.
