Work Location: 100% On-Site Position Overview City Year Tulsa is seeking a skilled, entrepreneurial, and strategic Managing Director of Development to work closely with the Executive Director, Sr. Managing Director of External Affairs and Operations and development staff to lead the development and implementation of fundraising strategies in Tulsa. The Managing Director of Development leads the implementation of the site’s private revenue strategy raising over $4,000,000. This person leads the team that builds and engages the community of stakeholders from private sectors to help City Year Tulsa meet its long term impact goals. This position reports to the Sr. Managing Director of External Affairs and Operations, works closely with the Site Leadership and manages the Development team. This is a full-time position located in Tulsa, OK. Job Description Position Overview The Managing Director of Development leads the implementation of the site’s private revenue strategy raising over $4,000,000. This position reports to the Sr. Managing Director of External Affairs and Operations, works closely with the Site Leadership and manages the Development team. Job Description Implement a comprehensive fundraising program: · Implement fundraising strategies and programs, including a special emphasis on major giving, corporate partnerships, foundation relations initiatives that increase the organization’s support from individuals, corporations, foundations and other sources; · Provide leadership, strategic direction, management, and coordination for all aspects of the site’s private revenue efforts; including sustainability; · In partnership with the Executive Director, prepare and submit budgets that allocate appropriate resources to accomplish goals · Provide detailed reports about the fundraising progress on a regular basis, including but not limited to quarterly Board Development Committee and Board meetings; · Oversee donor stewardship and recognition programs, as well as all annual giving programs; · Continue to build volunteer programs to steward relationships with corporate and individual donors, and further investment in City Year's work and communities; · Develop event strategy and oversee established annual fundraising events, especially City Year’s luncheon, as well as smaller convenings to inspire interest and support; · Ensure that appropriate systems and procedures are in place to support the site’s future fundraising goals; and · Ensure accurate maintenance and security of records and donor information in the Salesforce database. Identify areas for operational improvements and drive continual improvements of processes Raise the philanthropic resources necessary to support and grow City Year Tulsa’s programs and initiatives: · Directly manage a portfolio of prospects and donors who have the potential to provide significant charitable gifts to the organization; · Cultivate, solicit and, close annual, major gift and multi-year contributions; · Achieve all annual and multi-year revenue goals, maintain philanthropic support from $3.8M to $5M over the next three years; · Identify new funding prospects to support the organization; · Effectively steward and grow City Year Tulsa’s Major Gifts Program, the Red Jacket Society, to increase annual and multi-year support from the region’s wealth market; · Maintain and build City Year Tulsa’s corporate partnership program, including support from the organization’s signature Team Sponsor Program; · Develop and lead grant strategy, maintaining regular correspondence with foundations, donors, and board members with a long-term relationship approach; · Serve as a passionate proponent of the organization and its mission; and · Appropriately represent the organization, its board, and staff leadership to donors and prospects. Manage relationships and communication with current donors Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a diverse base of individual donors Including board members, alumni, parents and families, and friends of City Year. Manage the identification and cultivation of new corporate and foundation partnerships. Facilitate the Team Sponsorship program; identify, secure and engage team and program sponsors throughout the year. Identify donors' philanthropic interests and provide them with an opportunity to realize an outstanding philanthropic experience through their charitable investment of time, advocacy and financial support to City Year. Work collaboratively with City Year’s national Development team to leverage the greatest resources possible for site and National objectives Ensure the Operations Manager has the tools and resources required to design, execute and measure and continually improve events that build awareness and engage individuals, foundations and corporations as champions and donors Oversee the entire development business process from donor identification through stewardship Oversee Grant Management Women’s Leadership Luncheon Manage Women’s Leadership Luncheon Committee and strategic plan Collaborate with Operations Manager to create a success Manage the Development & Communications Department: Identify, hire and develop a team of high performers. Use cyready on-boarding and performance management process to coach team members to meet individual development and performance goals. Identify training needs and encourage the use of available systems, structures and capabilities to meet strategic goals. Identify areas for operational improvements and drive continual improvements of processes Coach and manage the Development & Communications team to ensure team trust, professional growth, and success; Promote a working environment that ensures team members have the space to show up authentically; and Build the skills, knowledge, and abilities of the Development & Communications team in areas including annual giving, major gifts, events, donor relations, corporate and community partnerships, grants, communications, and stewardship. Work collaboratively with board and staff leadership to enhance their fundraising skills and to support their revenue generating efforts: · Partner with and leverage the talents of the Executive Director to deploy their time and attention to leverage the greatest revenue generating opportunities; · Coordinate fundraising efforts of Executive Director, the City Year Tulsa Board (especially its Development Committee), the Investment Community Board, the Women’s Board, the Associate Board, and other key fundraising groups and individuals; · Work effectively with the City Year Tulsa Board and other key stakeholders, leveraging their talents, resources, and ideas to identify new prospects, secure introductions, and engage and solicit prospects and donors; · Enhance fundraising activities; understand the Board’s giving patterns and desired involvement; enhance Board members’ ability to identify fundraising opportunities and encourage their ongoing participation as donors and solicitors; and · Build strong relationships with the site’s leadership and staff; understand City Year’s model and program; work collaboratively with program staff to integrate innovative development strategies Serve as a member of City Year Tulsa’s Senior Leadership Team to advance the organization’s goals: · Provide counsel and guidance to the Executive Director and members of the Senior Leadership Team in order to incorporate development, communications, and marketing perspectives; · Embrace open and honest two-way communication throughout the site; · Serve as a proactive problem-solver; · Ensure that philanthropy and fund development are carried out in accordance with the organization’s mission, vision, and values; · Demonstrate personal commitment to diversity, belonging, inclusion, and equity (DBIE); · Implement learnings from DBIE and anti-racism trainings into team culture, workstreams, and goals; and · Collaborate with staff from other City Year sites and the national fundraising team to raise revenue and share strategies and best practices. Qualifications Proven success operating in ambiguous and changing environments with the demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize projects. City Year and AmeriCorps alumni are strongly encouraged to apply. Must have access to reliable transportation. Intermediate skill using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Publisher-required Comfort in leveraging software tools for task and email management Experience using Salesforce, or other database application Commitment to community service, national service, and the development of young people as leaders. Proven success operating in ambiguous and changing environments with the demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize projects. Strong problem solving, time and project management skills; ability to prioritize projects and tasks, and assess and deploy resources. Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills; capacity to strategically imagine, plan, and implement new ideas. At least 3 years of team management/leadership experience with a focus on strong interpersonal coaching and leadership skills; Desire and ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds, with experience managing people through a lens of diversity, belonging, inclusion, and equity; At least 3 years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization with demonstrated success in a Development function (creating and managing relationships with multiple donor sources).; Demonstrable track record of personally identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and closing individual donors, corporations and foundations; Experience with Salesforce or comparable relationship management software; Benefits Full time employees will be eligible for all benefits including vacation and sick days and organization holidays.
