TITLE: School Secretary
SUMMARY: Reporting to the Building Principal, the School Secretary provides the required secretarial/clerical support to the school in all aspects of its day-to-day operations. The individual must work in a team-based environment and display a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy in dealing with the public, students, staff, volunteers, and outside agencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide general secretarial and clerical support in the day-to-day operations of the School. Assist with the student registration process, as required. Provide receptionist services and respond to inquiries from staff, students, and the public. Maintain time and attendance records for all students and school-based staff. Maintain student information system, as required. Complete and submit the required documentation or electronic data as requested by the school administration. Assist the school administrative team during emergency situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. High School graduate or equivalent required. High School education must be supplemented by courses in office/secretarial procedures. Minimum of three years of office and secretarial experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of and experience in a computerized office environment, utilizing an advanced computer system with proficiency in all Microsoft and Google applications. Knowledge of municipal or school district operations; and demonstrated commitment to customer service.
Skill-based competencies include attention to detail and accuracy and exercise of judgment in carrying out tasks with minimal guidance and direction.
Ability-based competencies include keeping accurate and detailed records; communicating with staff, students, and parents with courtesy and tact; performing operations and assigned tasks according to a prescribed deadline; work effectively in a team environment; perform a wide range of secretarial/clerical duties; multitask and prioritize; accept increasing responsibility as delegated by the Principal; adapt to changing situations within the workplace; and maintain and promote confidentiality.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be required to lift up to 20 lbs.; move/traverse throughout the building; and position oneself to access supplies or materials; operate a keyboard.
