ABOUT THIS POSITION
Summary:
The Community Education Center Summer Camp Program Specialist is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Community Education Center youth program including the summer camp program for middle and high school age groups. The Program Specialist will develop, direct, and coordinate the solicitation, and delivery of the summer camp and year-round youth program by providing administrative assistance to the Director. Operations include responding to student, faculty/instructor, and parental concerns; maintaining student and parent demographic records to include those needed for grant reconciliations and applications as applicable. The Program Specialist will be responsible for multiple campus location to coordinate the delivery of summer camp and youth programming. This position is a dynamic role that will benefit from experience in a variety of areas such as classroom management, teacher development, student learning, marketing, and project management. Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Provide professional support to the Director of the Community Education Center regarding summer camps. Includes the authority to make and commit to administrative decisions on behalf of the Director in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Administer the scheduling of faculty/instructors in the Community Education Center related to year-round youth programming and summer camps in multiple locations including the CMU Tech Bishop campus, CMU main campus, Clifton Community Center, and Montrose campus for CMU/CMU Tech.
• Manage implementation of all summer camp and youth programming, including recruiting instructors, developing curriculum, coordinating training schedules, assigning locations and rooms, registering campers, recording and tracking enrollment and attendance, checking in students, verifying liability waivers and media releases and ordering supplies for camps.
• Propose and implement procedures and resources to help make sure that students in the valley become aware of and can attend summer camps by breaking down barriers that might exist to include financial, transportation, location, and others.
• Foster CMU Tech’s strong partnership, collaboration, and communication with all industry, community, and school district partners.
• Assist Director with management of financial operations for summer camps and overall youth programming including collecting and approving instructor requested supply/materials budgets, processing of faculty assignment (contract) preps for camp instructors and establishing pricing for summer camps and youth programming.
• Assist in the preparation of summer camp reports on summer camp program enrollment, cost of operation, grant reconciliation and further action proposals.
• Develop and implement marketing ideas for advertising of the youth program in coordination with the marketing department.
• Propose and implement creative programming ideas for summer camp classes and youth programming that can build an ongoing collaboration with students throughout the year on topics of their interest.
• Help field and resolve complaints and problems regarding summer camps programs originating from students, parents, and instructors as well as request and organize overall feedback of all participant’s experiences.
• Actively pursue contacts with local entities such as SD51 to promote summer camp and overall youth courses offered through the Community Education Center.
• Work with SD51 and other entities to identify opportunities for partnerships on youth program awareness and teaching opportunities.
• Maintain complete records of all summer camp training courses.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Four (4) years of related experience in office/project management, education
• Proficient with all Microsoft Office Suite applications to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Excellent organizational skills due to multiple assignments and fluctuating priorities.
• Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Previous youth programming experiences.
• Previous teaching or volunteer experience in the Pre-school through 12 school system.
• Sales and marketing experience.
• Budget management experience.
• Experience building teams and/or enhancing the team experience.
• Understand the CMU/CMU Tech core values and work toward living those values every day.
Hourly Wage: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
