This non-student hourly role provides essential technical and administrative support to a research laboratory focused on cell and molecular biology. The position will assist with routine and advanced laboratory procedures-including cell culture, immunoassays, and molecular biology techniques-to support ongoing research projects. Responsibilities include preparing reagents and materials, maintaining laboratory records, completing data entry, and assisting with data organization and basic analysis. The individual in this role will collaborate with the research team to ensure accurate documentation, uphold laboratory safety and quality standards, and help maintain efficient day-to-day lab operations.

The Department of Clinical Sciences mission is to assure the health and productivity of animals to meet societal needs through high-quality educational programs for professional veterinary medical students, graduate veterinarians, and the public through a faculty and veterinary medical center of excellence, and to advance and disseminate comparative biomedical knowledge in an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration.

Essential Job Duties
- Perform immunoassays (e.g., ELISAs) as benchtop techniques to assess cytokine levels in fluids such as plasma or synovial fluid.
- Perform molecular techniques such as RNA or DNA extractions to determine differential gene expression in tissues such as synovium or white blood cells.
- Assist with data organization and administrative support to the lab such as digitizing or cataloging data and scheduling studies.
- Assist with cell culture including isolation and expansion of cell lines.
- This is a non-student, hourly position.
- The employee must follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintain accurate laboratory records, and comply with departmental and university policies.
- The position is to a designated senior research staff member within the Department of Orthopaedic Research.
- Bachelor's degree (BS) in a biological science or related field.
- Hands-on experience with core laboratory techniques, including cell culture, immunoassays, and standard molecular biology methods.
- Interest and willingness to assist in rodent and large-animal research studies as needed.
- Strong scientific communication skills, including the ability to accurately document procedures, summarize findings, and communicate effectively within a research team.
