The City Engineer is a key member of the Public Works leadership team, reporting to the Director of Public Works. This position oversees and manages all City public rights-of-way and performs highly complex program and project management that may include functional areas such as design, transportation, development review, construction, traffic engineering and planning, surveying and mapping, and general civil engineering pertaining to roadways, drainage, bridges, and railway crossings. This position also requires collaboration with various City departments and contractors.
Hiring Salary Is Dependent Upon Experience.
Hiring Range is $148,347.23 - $164,830.25

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited institution or closely related field and at least seven (7) years of progressive engineering experience including at least four (4) years of project management experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Must be registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado, or able to obtain reciprocity within six months from the date of hire. Must be a certified floodplain manager. This requires a minimum of two years of full-time floodplain management experience, a relevant higher education degree, or completion of the FEMA - Managing Floodplain Development Through the NFIP (course E0273), and then passing the CFM exam administered by the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM). Must possess a valid driver’s license.

The employee must have successfully completed their 6-month Introductory Period for eligibility.
