Position & Candidate Description

Lead Line cooks assist with direction and management of staff, food preparation, follow recipes, maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment, and possess a growth mentality. An ideal candidate focuses on service, education, and a positive kitchen culture based on trust and respect. Common House is a teaching kitchen. Learning and growth are high priorities amongst our team.

This is an hourly, non-exempt position based on-site in New Orleans, LA.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the kitchen team in the Sous Chefs absence
  • Checking out the kitchen team before and after service to ensure properly set up for success and breakdown is executed appropriately.
  • To provide our guests with an outstanding and unique food experience, maintaining the standards set in place for our Common House guest
  • To fulfill assignments as appropriate to ensure that food production is performed to the benchmarked superior standards in accordance with all recipes and methods at required standards
  • To take all necessary steps to provide our guest with a Common House experience

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • The organization, sanitation, care and maintenance of all kitchen equipment (cooking equipment, storage, refrigeration, small wares, work surfaces, floors, shelving, etc) in areas of responsibility
  • Promote the company’s safety goals and actively work towards ensuring a safe working environment
  • Butchering and proper storage of proteins.

Qualification Standards

  • Preferred 2 years experience in a professional kitchen
  • Interested in sourcing locally and seasonally
  • Possesses a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn and take direction
  • Self-motivated, positive demeanor, punctual, strong multitasking skills

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Capable of standing for long periods (8-10 hours)
