The Education and Labor Cabinet’s Department of Disability Determination Services Programs (DDDSP) assists and determines eligibility for Social Security Administration Disability benefits for the citizens in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
We are seeking an Administrative Specialist to provide professional support in the review, evaluation, development, and implementation for processing disability claims.
The Administrative Specialist position is a federally funded time limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non-merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.
Responsibilities And Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
The Education and Labor Cabinet (ELC) participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the United States. ELC will only use E-Verify once you have accepted a job offer and completed the Form I-9.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities And Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
- Assists disability adjudicators with contacting disability claimants regarding clinical examination appointments; helps disability applicants with complying with scheduled disability examinations, finds out if there are any obstacles in attending this examination by working with them to resolve these obstacles or reschedule the clinic exam; helps with expediting the decision process.
- Communicates with medical providers, attorneys, and school personnel to expedite the receipt of medical records; follows up on medical information, generates special letters or makes additional phone calls during the claims process.
- Prepares attachments and other documents necessary for requesting evidence through the Social Security Administration program for processing disability claims; prepares internal documents necessary for receiving medical evidence; will monitor kept and broken clinical examinations.
- Creates and formats letters requesting medical evidence for claims processing section; prepares external documents for requesting medical evidence; generates letters and forms to mail out requesting medical evidence and information.
- Begins the initial development process by electronically requesting medical records for newly receipted disability claims.
