Description
Kentucky State Police is the premier, full-service law enforcement agency in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. With the highest level of professionalism and integrity the Kentucky State Police works to prevent, reduce, and deter crime and the fear of crime; enhance highway safety through education and enforcement; protect and safeguard individual rights; and provide leadership, training, technical, and operational support to the criminal justice community.
Primary Role:
The Kentucky State Police Apprenticeship Program is designed to recruit individuals interested in becoming a Kentucky State Police Trooper upon turning twenty-one (21) years of age and to provide hands on experience and education in the law enforcement and public safety career fields. The Police Administration Apprentice I- telecommunication or CVE inspector concentration is twenty nine hundred (2900) hours in duration with six hundred (600) additional hours of job shadowing, in the areas of criminal justice programs and records, investigative, forensic sciences, administration and a Telecommunication / CVE inspection overview. Upon successful completion, the apprentice is eligible to apply for the Kentucky State Police Academy, gaining Trooper Applicant Point System (TAPS) points, or transition into permanent fulltime employment with the department. Apprenticeship graduates are considered novices in their chosen concentration.

Must maintain any required licensures(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 12 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
