The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board is seeking a highly motivated and specialized candidate with clerical experience and great customer service for our Licensing Information Center. As a LCB Licensing Technician 1, you will have the opportunity to utilize your clerical experience with answering telephone calls and assisting walk-in customer inquiries regarding the licensing process, specific applications, licenses and permits. You will review, process and approve license renewal applications and related documentation in support of the selective liquor licensing program administered by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board through the Bureau of Licensing. In addition to routinely answering telephone calls, typical examples of work include renewals, special occasion permits, change of officers (club), correction to license, approval of managers, and Sunday Sales permits. This position offers a great office environment with a benefit package that includes health insurance, retirement plan, paid vacation and sick time, prescription, dental and vision plans.
In this position, you will examine, evaluate and approve applications for different types of licenses and permits as mandated by the Liquor Code, subsequent amendments and by the adoption of Board regulations, precedents and policies, controlling the manufacture, purchase, transportation, storage, delivery, sale and consumption of liquor, alcohol, and malt or brewed beverages. Work is performed independently on routine assignments and more direct instructions are received only for new types of duties. You will also examine applications supporting documents, and fees for the various types of licenses and permits processed in the Bureau to determine their correct execution and eligibility of the individual applicant or corporation and the premises to be licensed for the license or permit as set forth in the application.
You will approve application for renewal licenses and permits and certain types of new permits such as amusement permit, Sunday sales permits, off premises sales permit, extended hours food license, and special occasion permits, when all statutory and regulatory requirements are met and the application, supporting documentation, and fees are in proper order. You will also review investigative reports to determine adherence to statutory, regulatory and policy requirements.
You will input data on POSSE, maintain updates and control issuance of renewal licenses, verifying tax clearance information and inserting proper warning codes. You will also utilize POSSE for research of licenses issued by the Board.
Work hours and additional information:
Full-time employment- Work hours: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday
- You will have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You will need to report to the office one week at a time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Further details will be discussed at the interview.
Qualifications:
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of clerical experience supporting a legal, licensing, or other regulatory program requiring the application of statutes, program policies, or industry regulations, and graduation from high school; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training.- Must meet PA residency requirement – For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency
