As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will provide peer support services for inpatient and outpatient consumers in recovery as they work to regain control over their lives. You will collaborate with peer mentors, hospital staff, family, and community members to assist consumers as they identify and strive to reach personal recovery goals. You will also provide information about public services, educational opportunities, and employment prospects that support recovery options. This role requires using active listening skills and the ability to empower consumers to realize their own strengths. In addition, you will respond to crisis situations as they arise.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of an active certification as a Certified Peer Specialist issued by the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB).
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
