THE POSITION

The Department of Labor and Industry is currently searching for a Clerical Assistant 2 in the Harrisburg Office. The primary function of this position is to provide moderately complex secretarial and clerical support to the Director and Administrative Officers of the Workers' Compensation Office of Adjudication (WCOA). This position is responsible for purchasing related tasks which include processing invoices for interpreters, court reporters, and security guards for WCOA's 22 field offices across the state.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Duties and responsibilities of this position include providing moderately complex secretarial support to the Director of WCOA, and supplemental clerical support to the Administrative Officers in the Harrisburg field office. Purchasing related duties involve acting as an SRM receiver and entering goods receipts, reconciling and processing vendor invoices, and maintaining files of correspondence, reports and other materials retained by WCOA. Secretarial duties involve preparing and typing numerical and narrative reports, correspondence, memoranda, transmittals and agendas; and providing exceptional customer service when receiving telephone inquiries.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time after a training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed Internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
