As a County Casework Manager 2, you will perform a variety of social service and casework duties designed to provide supportive services to children, youth, and families. You will work in close cooperation with other social service agencies, hospitals, mental health facilities, police, courts, schools, and other community resources in assisting the families. This is a professional social service position that is responsible for the supervision and evaluation of the workers in their unit. You will also perform primary supervisory tasks within the Children and Youth Services Program, do related work as required, and organize and administer activities of Northumberland County Children and Youth Services. You will maintain overall control of staff as well as community organizational responsibilities in terms of assessing community needs and resources and the coordination of children and youth activities with other programs and agencies. A thorough knowledge of applicable federal and state laws as they pertain to the welfare of children and youth within Northumberland County must be maintained.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in public or private social work including two years in a public welfare program, two of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; and a bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

 

Legal Requirements: 

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
