What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Counselor position at Community Care Connections, Inc.?

We are looking for patient, caring and fun-loving individuals to work in our integrated Camp Apple summer camp with young individuals who may or may not have disabilities. This Seasonal part-time position averages 18- 24 hours per week throughout the summer months with opportunities for monthly weekend activities in the fall months. Limited options are available for up to 35 hours per week, if interested in more weekly hours apply quickly!
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop a thorough understanding of the program requirements
- Implement educational, life skills and recreational activities with small groups of consumers as directed by the program director or program coordinator
- Treat participants with respect and interact with them in a positive, professional and friendly manner
- Maintain regular communication about program related matters with Program Coordinator
- Complete program related reports as required by CCC in an accurate and timely fashion
- Document consumer progress on the consumer’s daily program participation logs or in other ways as specified by the program coordinator
- Maintain positive professional contacts with other CCC staff , participants, and the general public
- Ensure the safety of consumers by supervising them during program activities and by following all program rules.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all consumer and program related information by following the CCC Confidentiality Policy.
- Report incidents involving injury to consumers or staff or damage to CCC property on the Incident Report forms or as directed by the program coordinator
- Assist consumers with their personal care/personal hygiene, feeding or mobility as necessary
- Assist in keeping all program equipment and supplies clean and in good order.
- Other related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Able to successfully obtain Clearances-Child Abuse, PA Criminal History, FBI to comply with Act 31 requirements. (Company covers the cost of obtaining)
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Valid PA driver’s license, good driving record and reliable transportation or ability to travel to program activities or off-site events.
- Ability to provide own transportation to and from program site.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends, if weekend events planned.
- Eligible to work for the Agency per the Medicaid Integrity Provisions.
- A willingness to learn and work with adults or children who have handicapping conditions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Physical ability to assist individuals who have disabilities with mobility, personal care or other physical needs related to their participation in the program activities occasionally to frequently
- Physical ability to operate and push motorized or manual wheelchair occasionally to frequently
- Physical ability to properly operate a vehicle lift, use tie downs or straps to ensure the safety of the consumer occasionally to frequently
- Physical ability to stand and walk frequently
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, crouch frequently
- Physical ability to get down to the consumer’s level – floor, knees occasionally
- Physical ability to lift up to 35 pounds
