TITLE: Accounting Technician (Furloughable)
LOCATION: Division of Fire – Pablo, MT
SALARY: $18.06 per hour including benefits
CLOSING DATE: Thursday, November 9, 2023 @ 5:30 p.m.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) within the definition of the CSKT Drug Testing policy. The
successful applicant, if not already employed by the Tribes must pass a pre-hire drug test. The
successful applicant with be required to serve a mandatory six-month probationary period.
DUTIES:
Procurement/Payment:
- Prepares purchase requisitions for various expense accounts and submits requisitions to Central
- Checks invoices against purchase orders or contracts to make sure quantities, items or services, process,
reference sources to check, to investigate and resolve routine or recurring discrepancies related to items
and/or price differences, un-liquidated funds, and similar problems.
- Assists the Administrative Officer with the Solicitation of competitive bids for equipment and supplies. The
name and address, line items and prices quoted, and quantities. Provides information to vendors on the bid
process and requirements for submission.
- Orders, receipts, and distributes orders to the appropriate program or individual. Files paid purchase
- Establishes and maintains cooperative business relationships with vendors. Maintains a list of all vendors
- Codes purchase authorizations with the correct account number. Records payment information on the
- Checks invoices and statements for accuracy and proper account distribution.
- Makes and distributes copies of the payments to the appropriate employees. Answers recurring questions
dates, and reasons for delays.
- Processes payment for Emergency Equipment Rental Agreements and other tire and fuels contracts.

and accurate before submitting to accounting for payment.
Receivable/Revenue:
- Prepares Bills for Collection as requested.
- Prepares Schedules of Collection for all funds collected by the division. Maintains a Schedule of Collection
- Maintains an Accounts Receivable file.
- Submits cash, checks, and money orders to Central Accounting for deposit.
- Processes travel authorizations and makes lodging and travel arrangements for various Division of Fire
- Processes travel advances. Prepares receipts for unused funds; issues payments to reimburse travelers
- Monitors trip reports and follows up on missing reports.
- Registers employees for training.
- From conceptual instruction, answers routine correspondence for the Administrative Officer.
- Assists with receiving phone calls and visitors, handling most inquiries and directing more complex matters
Other duties as assigned:
- Serves as Equipment Time Recorder or Personnel Time Recorder while on fire-related duty.
- Leads the work of emergency and temporary hire clerical employees as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (AS REFLECTED ON THE TRIBAL EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION)
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) or more years work experience in accounts payable or an equivalent position.
- Current qualifications as a Personnel Time Recorder (PTRC) and/or Equipment Time Recorder (EQTR)
- Must maintain a valid Montana State Driver’s License for vehicle operations.
