Starting Wage Range: $20.75/hr. - $26.42/hr.
Essential Functions:
- Provides reception to all patients, clients, and visitors seeking services.
- Schedules patient appointments in electronic scheduling system.
- Maintains a calendar of scheduled and upcoming events for all public health programs.
- Provides general information regarding services available.
- Verifies patient eligibility for services, and current insurance documentation.
- Verifies patient demographic data, and directs them to patient registration for applicable updates of information.
- Operates standard office equipment, including computers, fax, multiple-line phones, and copiers.
- Records patient information regarding missed appointments, cancellations, and patient confirmation calls.
- Utilizes patient appointment notification system to send appointment cancelation messages when applicable.
- Provides support with data entry in various electronic record systems.
- Makes copies, collects, sorts, and assembles information; organizes and routes information.
- Ensures patient confidentiality.
- Provides clerical support for public health staff.
- Provides general information regarding services available.
- Orders and maintains office supplies.
- Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education, Experience, and Licenses:
- Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Requires a minimum of one (1) year of work experience in the secretarial field preferably in a healthcare setting.
- OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Driving Requirements:
- This position may require driving.
Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:
- Previous experience with Nextgen preferred.
- Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, business and telephone etiquette.
- Requires excellent customer relations skills.
- Must have a working knowledge of the Privacy Act/HIPPA and its applications.
- Requires the ability to work independently.
- Requires the ability to work with diverse age groups.
- Requires knowledge of electronic patient management system, Microsoft Office products, and standard office equipment such as fax machine, copy machine, and multi-line telephone system.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture is required.
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
- Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
- Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
- Occasionally requires lifting of up to 40 pounds.
- Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
- This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.
- May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during emergencies.
- Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
