About the Role
Reporting to the VP of Distribution, the General Manager of our Texas Distribution Center, will be an integral part of opening our new facility in Wilmer, TX. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations including inventory management, staff supervision, order processing, shipping, receiving, internal operations, and safety & compliance.
What You will Do:
- Participate in the new facility design and serve as “boots on the ground” project management
- Lead hiring and onboarding of new personnel for the Wilmer facility; oversee all aspects of new facility readiness needs
- Travel occasionally to California to cross-train with our California distribution center management and personnel
- Lead and manage warehouse staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations; foster a positive and productive work environment
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, labor, and environmental regulations; act as a liaison with regulatory agencies, perform coaching and disciplinary actions, audit training, and coach and mentor staff; gather stakeholder input and provide feedback loops
- Oversee inventory control processes to ensure accuracy and minimize discrepancies; implement and monitor cycle counts and inventory audits
- Coordinate and optimize the receipt, storage, and distribution of products; ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment
- Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity; utilize data and metrics to drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by meeting delivery deadlines and addressing any issues or concerns promptly
- Develop and manage the warehouse budget, including labor, equipment, and operational expenses
- Monitor and control costs to achieve financial targets
- Work closely with other departments, such as procurement, sales, and customer service, to ensure seamless operations and support overall business objectives
What You’ll Need:
Skills:
- Proven experience in warehouse management or a similar role
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume warehouse environment preferred
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Experience implementing and maintaining safety initiatives for company machinery within the warehouse
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and other Office products; experience in D365 preferred
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in warehouse operations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Operates forklifts in compliance with Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) requirements
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management a plus
- Previous manufacturing or production experience a plus
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Interest in beauty or hair care a plus
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is highly preferred
- Valid Texas driver’s license in good standing
Experience:
- 7 years of leadership experience in a Distribution Center
- 5 years of direct people management experience of hourly employees
