What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rentals and Special Events Host position at Countryside Ymca?
POSITION SUMMARY: The Special Events Host oversees and assists members and participants with the facilitation of special events or after hours/overnight lock-in events being held at the Ralph J Stolle Countryside YMCA or Little Miami Learning Center facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Sets-up room prior to the arrival of guests.
- Handles food delivery.
- Meets and greets party guests, and has them sign the General Waiver sheet.
- Reviews event details with parent/client.
- Facilitates a smooth-running event through service, the anticipation of needs, etc.
- Moves the group between activities and assists in their packing up in a timely manner, when necessary.
- Cleans up event space and returns items to proper storage areas
- Knows emergency procedures and the Emergency Action Plan and policies for the safety of the guests.
- Follows all safety and risk management procedures and reports safety issues to the Director.
EDUCATION AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Must be 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Prior customer service experience
- Current Basic Life Support CPR & First Aid. If qualifications are not met at the time of the application, staff agrees to become certified at the next available opportunity.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of and familiarity with Countryside's facilities.
- Superior customer service, communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to anticipate a variety of scenarios and respond professionally.
- Ability to lift, bend, twist or reach/carry equipment for setting up/breakdown of events.
- Availability two weekends per month. Will be required to work a minimum of two events, or five (5) hours per month.
- Must pass a criminal background check and complete new hire training requirements.
- Reliable, punctual attendance.
- Flexibility in schedule may be requested based upon business needs.

The employee is often required to sit; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and stand/walk/run for extended periods of time. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific abilities required by this job require the visual, auditory, and verbal ability to clearly watch and listen to individuals and groups of children at near and distant ranges. Ability to work weekends and evenings. Most parties take place Friday Sunday time frames.
