Job Description: Senior Accountant
Position Overview: The Senior Accountant position plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, providing insightful financial analysis, and assisting with strategic financial decisions. As a Senior Accountant, you will leverage your extensive accounting experience to lead and oversee various accounting tasks, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the financial health of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and analyze complex financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Provide insights into financial performance, trends, and variances to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with management to develop financial forecasts and budgets.
General Accounting:
- Oversee the maintenance of general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Perform complex account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Supervision and Leadership:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering their professional growth.
- Review the work of junior accountants, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure smooth workflow and efficient processes.
Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and standards, including GAAP and relevant industry guidelines.
- Assist in coordinating and supporting internal and external audits.
- Lead the preparation of audit schedules and respond to audit inquiries.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and strengthen controls.
- Implement improvements to accounting systems, workflows, and reporting procedures.
Financial System Management:
- Utilize advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
- Troubleshoot issues, provide user support, and contribute to system enhancements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with departments across the organization to exchange financial information and insights.
- Provide financial expertise and contribute to strategic discussions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior role.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is strongly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
