Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer 2. The work will be done onsite full-time in Decatur, IL. This is a 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $36.30/hr full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Work Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 6:45 AM – 3:30 PM, with up to 5 hours of overtime per week as needed.
Job Summary
Cullerton Group is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support industrial layout, assembly processes, and manufacturing efficiency within a production environment. This role focuses on defining, documenting, and improving manufacturing processes while serving as first-responder engineering support for operations. The engineer will work closely with manufacturing teams to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on work in a factory setting and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Study time, motion, methods, and production rates to improve manufacturing efficiency
• Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to determine quality and reliability standards
• Review production records and logs to ensure compliance with quality requirements
• Support planning of work assignments based on production schedules, capacity, and anticipated delays
• Prepare and maintain charts, graphs, diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans, and process flow documentation
• Provide assembly line support for root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Perform time studies and standard work audits
• Support safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field
• 2–4 years of manufacturing or industrial engineering experience (internships accepted)
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics
• Experience with CAD software and common engineering tools
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
• Willingness to work in a factory environment wearing required PPE
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate’s degree with 5 years of experience or HS diploma with 8 years of experience considered
• Experience performing time studies and root cause analysis
• Familiarity with automation, PLCs, robotics, or manufacturing systems
• Experience creating standard work and process visual aids
