The National Charter Schools Institute is leading the search for the da Vinci Schools which is seeking a Superintendent who has the passion, knowledge, and skills to lead and grow a well-established and yet innovative charter public school in Jackson, Michigan. This school is located on two campuses, one serving primary age students and the other serving middle and high school aged students, and is committed to implementing a student-centered approach to education. Central Michigan University serves as the school’s authorizer and partner dedicated to the their success. Da Vinci currently serves approximately 450 students in grades K-12 and provides students with a high school diploma upon graduation. A master’s degree in education or related field is required, as is a Michigan Administrator’s Certificate (or eligibility for certification). A minimum of five years of experience in leading a school is expected and experience in the charter school sector is preferred. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications. This position is directly employed by the Board of Directors and, therefore, retirement benefits are provided through the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System (MPSERS). The National Charter Schools Institute has the privilege of facilitating the da Vinci Schools search process for the Superintendent. The da Vinci Schools Board of Directors has established a position description detailing the roles, responsibilities and professional qualities and attributes of the ideal candidate (da-Vinci-Superintendent-Position-Description.pdf (nationalcharterschools.org). The Board has established a base salary beginning at $105,000. A negotiated salary and benefits package will be commensurate with the chosen candidate’s experience and qualifications.
